Good Deeds Trust was an idea that evolved from Councillors Mark and Karen Aldred following their work engaging with residents whilst they were the Mayor and Mayoress of Wigan Borough
Mark and Karen set up Good Deeds Trust to provide assistance to the 3000 plus residents of Wigan Borough living with Dementia.
Good Deeds Trust is a small local charity, made up of volunteers, that has already formed a partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society to deliver a number of Dementia Cafes across the Borough of Wigan,situated in libraries and other locations.
The charity is keen to expand its work to help the general public and has now developed a contact system for people with Dementia which will give them greater security when travelling and will therefore allow greater independence, especially in the earlier phases of Dementia or ill health. This was intended to be a pilot project with the borough of Wigan for a sustainable roll out of the initiative across Greater Manchester and beyond.
